Madonna’s Body - The Impossible Dream?

Madonna's Body

Madonna looks great; she’s almost fifty and showing no signs of slowing down or aging.

But has she set the bar a little too high for the average woman? Can you seriously achieve her results in the real world?

Let’s look at the facts – Madonna’s estimate wealth is around $850 million….now, you can buy a lot of help with that sort of money.

Think about your day for a moment. If you’re a mother you’re up early making breakfast, preparing lunches, dressing children, dropping them off to school, heading off to work, coming home cooking dinner, getting kids ready and off to bed, catching up on house work…..there’s a lot going on…which doesn’t leave a lot of time for sculpting your body into a Madonna clone.

Madonna can and does get a lot of help, which leaves heaps of room in her busy schedule for workouts. You could bank on the fact that she would have chef to prepare her food, Nannies, Nutritionists and a personal trainer on call….she even brought a $12 million home because it was right next to the fitness centre she goes to.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not “Knocking Madonna” by any means, I am simply saying that it is unrealistic for the everyday person to expect to achieve a physique like hers.

A body like Madonna’s takes both time and money.not that she necessarily employs the help of a plastic surgeon.

In an article from People.com Madonna clearly indicates that she wouldn’t even tell us if she did:

“I’m not against plastic surgery, I’m just against discussing it” Madonna said.

Fair enough, so how does she do it?

“If you want to know how I look like I do, it’s diet and exercise and being constantly careful,” she says. “I swear by oxygen facials, I’m obsessive about staying out of the sun. I don’t drink much and drugs are out.”

The real secret to her success, Madonna thinks, is self-discipline. “There are no tricks. Tricks don’t work. Discipline does.”

Still, and let’s step back into the real world again, you can have all the self discipline in the world, it’s not going to change the fact that achieving that level of fitness is very unlikely if you’re a busy mum or even a corporate high flyer.

In my opinion going after a physique like Madonna’s means you need to be extremely selfish…and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, it’s just a fact.

You need to be selfish to be able to dedicate the time you need to get into that kind of shape.

Here’s one change you’ll need to make straight away – Diet….that’s going to be good at meal time. Your diet will have to be different to the rest of your families, which means preparing 2 dinners every night….that alone is enough to put the brakes on most people.

Which brings me back to my point – celebrities like Madonna have set the bar a little too high for the average person.

I touched on this subject in my article about Britney Spears….if you need weight loss inspiration the glossy magazine is not the place to get it…sorry, it’s not.

I think Madonna looks amazing and good on her for transforming her figure into a well oiled machine…I just don’t think it’s achievable for 99% of the population.

But hey, tell me I’m wrong…..

I know that a diet filled with whole foods instead of processed, sugar-filled gunk will do wonders for the body. Add in regular cardio and strength training, and you can get in tip-top shape.

The thing is with Madonna though, is that she has resources that many of us don’t have - a personal trainer(s) at her beck and call, and I think she works out very very often. So, I always think that it’s dangerous to compare yourself to celebrities, and esp. to images in magazines that are almost all photoshopped (I don’t think this image of Madonna was photoshopped, though). ;)

@JoLynn - you’re spot on about the photoshopping of photo’s in magazines…..Imagine how great our holiday shots would be if we photoshopped and air bushed them before emailing them onto our family and friends…..time to get into the real world and focus on REAL health & fitness goals.

No she doesn’t set the bar too high Madonna shows what can be done.

It is always a struggle to get the weight off and then it takes a conscious effort to keep it off.

Being over weight is an emotionally draining and physically draining situation to be in and many times your struggle is reduced to ridicule and insensitivity.

The exhilaration you feel when you look back 5 months before you made a conscious effort and see positive results is truly gratifying and often creates wide smiles and happy tears.

Losing weight can be accomplish but motivation must come from the inside to change the outside.

You can and will do it, just never give up hope.

Only give up the pounds and the inches.

I am half her age and she looks way better than me in a bikini.hats off to her.

I think its takes years to achieve a body like Madonna’s.its not just pomping iron and goin thruogh bulk & cut cycles.her body is a REAL good and healthy body.

I love how muscular she is,and i think every woman must look up to her.i hate those skinny women who starve themselves to be skinny.
